You Win Some, You Lose Some

Hey, lovelies! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Sometimes we create an outfit that is absolutely stellar. Other times, though, our outfits may fall short of our expectations. Today was one of those days where my look did not turn out like I wanted it to. The coral cardigan combined with the white top and black leggings was fine. The coral necklace was a great addition as well. However, the cardigan was really too short for this long length top. Those pieces just didn’t jive well together and it brought down the whole look of the outfit.

Do you ever have days when your outfit isn’t quite a winner?

Blushing Pink

Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Today’s outfit was inspired by wanting to wear yet another of my new spring shirts (see my Spring Haul Update here).  It doesn’t feel much like spring here today, I think we may have reverted back to winter. To add some extra warmth to this blush tunic tank, I threw on this cream cardigan. I paired the top with these pull on bootcut jeans, ballet flats, and finished off the look with a long layered necklace for some interest. I’m kida digging this outfit!

How do you add extra warmth on cold spring days?

From Casual to Edgy

Hello, lovelies!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Today, let’s talk transitions.  Right now, we’re in the midst of transitioning from winter to spring (thank goodness!).  There are also times when you might want to transition from day to night.  For today, though, we’re going to focus on transitioning from casual to edgy.  I’m going to show you one outfit and how we can transition a look by simply changing the accessories. If you’re not into edgy looks, that’s okay.  This can apply to any type of look you maybe going for.

Let’s get into it!

The casual look on the left features flip-flops and simple jewelry.  For the edgy look on the right,  we switched out the flip flops for booties and added a statement necklace.  How cool is it that simply by changing out these accessories, we can totally change the look of the whole outfit?!?

Here’s a close-up of the statement necklace.  I also wanted to share my favorite feature of this top…pockets!  So fun!

Which look is your favorite?

Kimono Me Crazy

It seems like kimonos are everywhere again this spring! See my posts here and here for last year’s kimono looks. I love the effortless class kimonos add to our looks. Slipping on a kimono just boosts your outfit to a whole new level.

Let’s get into today’s look. This is the kimono my bestie made for me a couple of years ago. I still love it and get compliments every time I wear it! Thanks, bestie! 😘

How to Wear a Striped Shirt 10 Ways

Hello, lovelies!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Don’t you just love clothing items that can do double (or 10x) duty?  I know I do.  We’re spending our hard-earned cash on these pieces, so it’s great to get extra bang for our buck!  When purchasing items, I always try to envision at least 3 ways I can wear the new piece with existing pieces in my wardrobe.  This ensures the new piece will play nicely with the items already in our closets.

Striped shirts are having a moment lately.  When you stop to think about it, it makes sense.  They are super versatile.  Stripes are really a new neutral.  Not only can they be paired with everything, they can be styled to be casual or dressy and everything in between!

What do you get when you have a striped top that can be worn 10x ways?  Let’s check it out!

I love the look of this yellow sweater with the striped shirt.  I paired this look with ballet flats, but you could easily add a pair of black pumps and dress this look up even more!

This is a pretty casual look.  It’s so easy, though!  Simply throw on a necklace and there you go!

This is one of my favorites.  I’m loving the pink pop of the statement necklace.  I also love the edginess the booties add to the look.  Adding different shoes, such as ballet flats, would totally change the look of this outfit.  So fun!

Mixing patterns can be scary.  As we talked about before, though, stripes are the new neutral.  Feel free to experiment with different patterns.  You never know what you’ll come up with!

A pop of red with black and white is so classy.  I love the book ending in this outfit with the red necklace and the red sandals.

This outfit was so easy yet it’s creeping up on dressy.  The black pumps really take this look to the next level.  Love it!

Again, with the red.  You can’t go wrong with black and white and red!

This is the most causal of all the looks.  Again, such an easy look and allows the statement earrings to have a moment.

This is the most dressy of all the looks and maybe my favorite.  I love sparkles, so this outfit really speaks to me.  I also love the way the black pumps finish off the look.

Another casual look pairing brown with the black and white.  The brown in the necklace helps tie in the brown boots.  Another love!

There you have it.  The 10 looks with a striped shirt (similar shirt here).  I got this idea from Candance over at  She has some amazing posts!  Here’s her latest 10 Ways post.  Check it out for some fabulous new outfit ideas!

It’s All New

Hello, lovelies! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

A few weeks ago I shared some of my latest spring pieces. I’ve been itching to wear them! Today’s outfit was inspired by my desire to wear these new clothes! Let’s take a look!

Sweater (exact) // Tank (similar) // Jeans (similar) // Shoes (similar)

I love how the browns in the sweater and the necklace make the greens in the shirt and the shoes really pop. I’m so happy with the way this outfit turned out! Bonus points that it was super comfy too!

Do you ever put together outfits simply because you’re excited about wearing a particular item?

Spring Haul Update

and Taking My Own Advice

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

When seasons change it’s always nice to buy a few new pieces to refresh our wardrobes. If we keep adding items without getting rid of others, our closets can get very congested and overcrowded. An option to prevent this from happening is to follow the one-in one-out rule. I talked about this briefly in a post here. As a refresher, the one-in one-out rule is when we bring a new piece into our wardrobe, another piece is removed.

I’ve recently bought some new spring items, so I thought it would be fun to share with you how I follow this rule in my own life. I never buy new hangers, which forces me to make sure I adhere to the one-in one-out rule. Let’s get into it!

Even though stripes are hot this year, I chose to let this striped shirt go in favor of this tunic length sweater. I’m loving all things tunic length lately and I feel this sweater fits my current style more than the striped shirt.

These shirts are so similar, so this choice was easy. Plus, the one-out top doesn’t fit well anymore.

Although, I love the this wrap shirt, it’s simply not my jam anymore. It’s time for it to go to Goodwill.

I’m loving this new shirt! It’s another tunic length number. The one-out shirt isn’t a good length and doesn’t fit well anymore.

This new one-in dress is so versatile and comfy. I love it! As for the one-out dress, I just don’t find myself wearing it very often. I think someone else could put it to better use.

This one-in shirt is so beautiful and comfy to boot! The one-out shirt is one I’ve had for over 10 years. I still love it, but it just doesn’t fit my style anymore.

The one-out top doesn’t fit well anymore, so this was an easy choice.

I still love the fit and color of the one-out tank, but it needs fixing so it’s time to go.

These are similar tanks. I love the one-out top, but it doesn’t fit well anymore.

This was a difficult choice. I love both dresses, but at the end of the day the one-in fits my style better than the one-out.

This was another hard choice. The brown shoes are nice, but it’s just time for change.

Do you follow the one-in one-out rule? Share you stories with us below!

An Online Boutique You Have to See to Believe

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

We all need to shop for clothes. Regardless of whether we like shopping or not, it’s a thing we have to do.

There are times shopping for clothes can be fun, but it can also be super stressful. The busy malls, the fitting room mirrors that lie, sifting through racks and racks of items only to find something you like but not in your size, etc etc.

I’ve certainly wandered aimlessly and depressed through many a clothing store with little hope that I’ll ever be able to find what I want.

There’s got to be a better way.

Six years ago, I broke my ankle and I broke it badly. I was down for the count for a couple months. No shopping for me. What’s a girl to do? Up until this point in my life, I had been vehemently opposed to online shopping. I insisted I must try on each clothing item before purchasing them. Being homebound, though, I caved and downloaded the JCPenney app.

From then on, I was hooked. Do you mean to tell me I can scroll through hundreds of items filtered by my size and item type of choice…in a matter of minutes…from the comfort of my couch? Yes, please! I’ve never looked back.

Once I found the joy and ease of online shopping, I needed a few go-to sites. Of course, I relied (and still do) on Target, JCP, and thredUP. My quest for fabulous (and inexpensive) online clothing sites has never ceased, though.

The other day I was reading a blog post on J’s Everyday Fashion (check out the post here). Now when J shares a favorite find, I listen.  She has stellar taste plus she’s a fellow Kansas girl.  If you haven’t checked out her blog, do yourself a favor and head on over there.  You’ll love it!  Anyway, J was talking about an online clothing shop called She shared a few of her finds and they were super cute and super budget friendly. I had to check it out.

So what is this online store?  According to their website, they describe themselves like this: “ is a very beautiful boutique marketplace featuring the latest in women’s fashion trends, home decor, and children’s clothing.”  As their description mentions, they not only have adorable and affordable women’s fashion, they also have jewlery, home decor items and children’s clothing.  What more could you ask for?

I’ve placed a few orders so far using their app.  The app is super easy to use and most items feature multiple pictures so you can really get a good look at them.  Because sells items from different boutiques, shipping is calcualated per item.  That is a little different than most of us are used to.  However, this is not a deal breaker by any means.  Shipping is usually a couple bucks per item.  The prices are so low, that adding an extra $2-$3 still makes them a great deal.  Returns are a breeze too, although, again, you need to deal with each boutique seperately.Below are the items I’ve purcahsed so far.  Enjoy!

Black and white stripes seem to be everywhere these days!  I cannot wait to see how many outfits I can create with this shirt!  I smell a blog post coming on!  Exact (still available)
Don’t mind me while I just live in this dress.  This dress is soft, comfy, flattering, and versatile.  Plus, it has pockets!  #iminlove Exact (still available)
Florals are having a moment this spring!  Even though this is black, thanks to the florals and flowiness, it still has a springy vibe.  Exact (deal expired) / similar
I’ve been searching for a flowy tank that I can not only wear in the summer, but also one I can throw a sweater over in the winter.  This one fits the bill perfectly! Exact (deal expired) / similar
Speaking of a tank I can wear both in the summer and winter, this one is it.  I wish you could feel this fabric!  It’s so soft!  I’ll be wearing this on repeat all summer long!  Exact (deal expired) / similar

I was reading Bright on a Budget the other day.  She had the cutest Espadrilles on!  I’ve never had a pair, and I knew at that moment I need a them on my feet ASAP!  Exact (deal expired) / similar

If you’re in the market for some new spring clothes (aren’t we all?) or you’re looking for a new online shop to explore, I would highly recommend checking out!!!Thanks for stopping by!  Have a fabulous day, lovelies!lylas, MissyAnn 😘

Hello Spring Style

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

So this winter was LOOONG! I don’t know about you, but I had some serious cabin fever setting in. Not just for sunny skies and warm breezes, but for bright clothes and shoes that weren’t boots.

At long last, we can finally start digging into our spring style. Today, I opted for my quintessential spring shirt (see it in another post here), jeans, and my new pink espadrilles. I didn’t even wear a jacket. It was fabulous!

How to Determine Your Body Type in 2 Easy Steps

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Today we’re going to be talking body type. Ugh, I know. This can be a touchy and unpleasant subject. The rewards, though, are well worth it.

Knowing our body type can really help us determine what flatters our figure. Gone will be the days of being frustrated and discouraged by our clothes. Instead, we’ll be able to throw on anything in our closets and look fabulous.

Before we dive in, let’s remember that all body types are beautiful and should be celebrated. We might not all be where we want to be and that’s okay. We are what we are and we’re fabulous!

So, how exactly do we figure out what body type we are? When I found this infographic on, I just knew I had to share it with you lovelies! Finding out your body type is so easy!

As the infographic suggests, all we have to do is the following:

  1. Take measurements
    1. Measure the bust
    2. Measure the hips
    3. Measure the waist
  2. Determine your body type
    1. Rectangle: Your hips and bust are similar and less than 8″ bigger than your waist
    2. Hourglass: Your hips and bust are similar and more than 8″ bigger than your waist
    3. Apple: Your waist is larger than your bust and hips
    4. Pear: Your hips are larger than your bust and waist
    5. Inverted Triangle: Your bust is larger than your hips and waist

Now that we know our body type, we can do some research to determine what clothes will best flatter us. Not surprisingly, I take to Pinterest to do my searching. I’m a Rectangle, so I simply type in “rectangle body type” and up comes hundreds of articles and pictures to help you dress your best.

To get you started, I’ve found some tips for each body type below. The first 4 are from Fashionopolis and the last one is compliments of LuLaRoe Whitney Lloyd. Enjoy!

Do you dress according to body type? Leave your tips for us below!
