New Inspiration

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!
Pinterest is getting stale. I feel like we see the same pictures over and over. This makes me so sad as it has been my go-to for inspiration for years. Just like anything, all good things come to an end. So, I’ve been trying to find new avenues for inspiration. Instagram has risen to the top as one of my new favorite places to find inspiration.  Today’s inspiration photo hails from the lovely ladies at EveryDaeStyle on Instagram.  I love the simplicity yet super stylish vibe of her look. For the restyle, I opted for a black shirt and red accents. I also did the half tuck of the shirt. I find the half tuck incredibly difficult to master, so I almost never wear my shirts like that. Anyone else with me on that or is it just me. Just me? Oh okay, got it. This is a super simple look that’s perfect for summer and one I’ll be sure to have on repeat for the rest of the season!

Fancy That

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!
Today, let’s get fancy! How fancy is this inspiration photo?!? I love how it combines elegance with summer practicality. The look is borderline genius in my opinion. I know it’s a thing, but you’ll never catch me in Bermuda shorts. Never. They’re just not flattering on me. Instead, I opted for some Capris, which still give the outfit that summer vibe. I paired it with a red shirt much like the one in the inspiration photo. For accessories, I opted for a beaded, red and burgundy necklace with matching earrings. I added some heeled, black sandals as the final touch. My look didn’t come out as fancy as the inspiration pic, but I’m still loving the look.  You could easily dress this up by adding fancier pieces or dress it down too. I love outfits that give you that versatility!

Insta Roundup #2

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Today, we’re looking back at a few looks from the past week or so.  Nearly, every day, I post my outfits on social media (follow me on InstagramTwitterFacebook, and Google+ to catch all the fun!).  Let’s get into it!

The hubby and I ready for a night out with friends this past weekend. So good to catch up with everyone!
My favorite way to beat the heat is by wearing bright colors! This shirt from a recent ThredUp haul is perfect!

I’m feeling all the black and white vibes this week! Apparently, I’m not the only one. There are three other ladies at work with this same striped shirt on today! I’ve always wondered what kind of cosmic connection is going on when that happens. Maybe that’s just me? What do you think?

I’m ending the work week with this colorful, perfect for summer skirt. It’s just so bright and fun! Love it!

Lovin’ some colors on this fabulous Sunday afternoon! Hope everyone is having a great day!

We’re finally getting a break from the heat, but I’ve been having so much fun wearing cute summer dresses and skirts that I continue that trend today. Another busy week is in store and nothing sets the right tone quite like pink!

Today calls for this funky dress I recently purchased from ThredUp. It’s so comfy and I love all the fun colors and patterns. This dress will transition nicely into fall, but for now, we’ll wear it the summer way!

Thursday called for more pink! You can never go wrong with more pink, amiright? Have a fabulous day!

How fun was that?  I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!

My New Summer Favorite

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!
Today, let’s talk summer style. I love living in a place that has all 4 seasons. I surely take advantage of that in my seasonal style and summer is certainly no exception. It’s full of skirts and dresses and light and breezy items. Nothing has that light and breezy vibe quite like my new ruana. This was a piece I got in my FabFitFun summer box (see that post here). As a refresher, according to Wikipedia, “a ruana is a poncho-style outer garment typical of the Andes region of Venezuela and Columbia.” When I unwrapped it from the box, I couldn’t wait to wear it!  Guys, it’s so soft!!!  Plus, it’s such a versatile piece that can be worn in so many different ways.  So far I’ve paired it with a white shirt and jeans, a black shirt and jeans, and a white dress.  I love all three, but if I had to pick one it would be the black shirt and jeans.  Which is your favorite?

P.S.  For some reason, every time I think of the word “ruana”, I get the song Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac in my head.  I’ll be singing that for about two weeks now.  You’re welcome!  😉

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Today, we’re looking back at a few looks from the past week or so.  Nearly, every day, I post my outfits on social media (follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ to catch all the fun!).  I’m going to try to do these posts from time-to-time as a way of sharing all my outfits with you here on the blog, even if I don’t devote an entire blog post to them.  With that, let’s get into it!
Today’s outfit called for simple yet fabulous. Going back to work after a long weekend is never easy so my look needed to be light and breezy. I love this pink shirt, it’s so comfy! The details at the neckline provide some interest so no necklace needed. Although, if I’m feeling extra sassy, I’ll add one! This look was perfect for today!

Today’s outfit is perfect for the 90+ weather and a full day of meetings at work. I love the coral and white together. So summery!

Road tripping and family reunions call for a cute summer dress! I love this dress from Daisy Fuentes. Is so comfy yet so chic. I love it!

Monday calls for comfy with a pop of pink. This outfit captures those Monday vibes perfectly!

Guys, it’s so hot here! It is July after all, though. I guess it’s supposed to be hot. At any rate, hot summer days call for cute dresses. This is one of my favorites to wear with leggings, knee-high boots, a sweater, and a scarf in the winter. It can easily be converted for summer wear by adding a slip extender in place of they leggings. Love it!

It’s a tad cooler today, but it’s still dress weather. This is one of my favorite thrift store finds of all time! I absolutely adore this dress!

Happy hour? Don’t mind if I do. Sweater gone, party on!

How fun was that?  I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!

Show Your Spirit

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!
Happy 4th of July! I hope everyone is having a fabulous day spending time with friends and family! I also hope you’re rocking the red, white, and blue! I sure am! I love going all out for holidays. It seems holidays are one of those times where you can go way over the top and no one minds. When I found this inspiration photo on Pinterest, I knew it was the one for this year’s Independence Day. It’s very similar to my look from last year (see that post here) except I opted for capris, a red tank, and some sparkly flip flops. Rewearing the tank from last year is a must. I mean, it’s the only day of the year I get to wear it. I also added a red necklace and earrings to spice up the look. This is definitely a more understated holiday outfit, but I’m digging it!

Fabulous Finds Friday: FabFitFun

The Summer Box

It’s that time again!  That’s right, time for FabFitFun unboxing!  Getting home and seeing this box sitting on my front step brings me pure joy.  I love it!  Much like the Editor’s Choice box (see that post here) and The Spring box (see that post here), The Summer box did not disappoint.  Let’s explore the goodies, shall we?

Michael Stars Ruana: $54
What’s a Ruana?  Don’t worry, I had no idea either. According to Wikipedia, it’s a “poncho-style outer garment typical of the Andes region of Venezuela and Columbia.”  All I know is that it’s super soft and versatile.  It can be worn as a scarf, sarong, or shawl.  This would be a great item for the beach or for traveling as it’s light but would keep you warm if you needed an extra layer.  This is going into my summer wardrobe rotation ASAP.  Look for it in an outfit post real soon!

BKR Little Glass Water Bottle – 500mL (16 oz): $35
This is the cutest glass water bottle!  It’s a perfect size and comes complete with a rubber cover to prevent breakage. Many of us (myself included) need to drink more water. Having cute containers like this around makes that a little easier.  It’s a little heavy to stick in my purse, but it’s a nice size to carry around.  It’ll be perfect in my car for my commute!  Might-as-well drink some water while sitting in traffic, right?

Cargo_HD Picture Perfect Highlighter in Bronze: $30

I’m not going to lie, I squealed with joy when I saw this sitting in the box. I love getting new makeup products to try and couldn’t wait to test out this one!  This highlighter is gorgeous! It’s creamy, lightweight, and glides on effortlessly.  The highlighter itself is shimmery gold and gives a nice summer glow to the skin.   Apparently, it’s formulated for HD filming to “give you a radiant, picture perfect finish…[that] remains invisible to the camera.”  I can’t speak to the camera part but it does give you a radiate, lit from within kind of look.  It kicks up a little powder, but other than that, there’s nothing to complain about here.  I would be curious to see what other products are in their line.

Juice Beauty Smoothing Eye Concentrate: $29
I’ve been getting into skin care lately.  I don’t know if it’s all the YouTube videos I’ve been watching or what, but I’m really curious to try some new products.  I was so excited to see this eye cream in the box.  Just that morning, I had run out of my e.l.f. Illuminating Eye Cream, so this was perfect timing. This claims to “moisturize and soothe any dark circles and fine lines.”  It’s full of ingredients that will “hydrate and nourish the eye area.”  I really like this product.  There is absolutely no scent, so if you’re sensitive to that you might want to check this out.  It’s lightweight and goes on easily.  It really protects the skin as I can still feel where I applied it in the morning.  I haven’t been using it long enough to say if it truly makes a visible difference or not, but when I use this product, I do feel like I’m doing something great for my skin.

Kris Nations Mystic Bar Necklace: $58
A girl can never have too much jewelry, right? I love getting new pieces to add to my collection and FabFitFun boxes never disappoint. This box contained a beautiful, yet simple necklace. I got the turquoise option promoting balance, discovery, and confidence which was perfect for me!  This is such a versatile item and I’ve been pretty much wearing it non-stop since I got it.  Plus, how cute is the packaging! Love it!

Eau Thermale Avene Ultra-Light Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+: $28
I’ll be honest, I haven’t tried this yet. I’m a little nervous about the word hydrating with my oily skin. Nonetheless, I’ll give it a shot. It’s the perfect size to just stick in your purse. I don’t know about you, but I never think to have sunscreen along. This will be great to just have with me. Apparently, it’s supposed to “protect and nourish your skin” with antioxidants and spring water.  Maybe that doesn’t sound so scary after all.  I’ll give it a try this weekend and let you know how it goes!

Vital Proteins Marine Collagen, Box of 20 packets: $48
These health items are always included in the boxes. Last month it was the gummy vitamins and this month it was this. It’s an unflavored collagen powder you mix with a glass of water. It’s supposed to give you a healthy complexion.  I tried it. Who knows if it did anything, though. To me, plain water is hard to beat especially for about $50!

Ready, Set, Create! Art Kit!: $22
This was one of three options. I forgot to make my selections, so this was chosen at random for me.  What a great fit to get my craft on! The kit comes with an 8×10 canvas, a set of 6 paints, 2 brushes, and an alphabet stencil set. I have no idea what I’m going to make but I can’t wait to use it!

Way of Will 03 Soothe and Cool Massage Oil: $29.50
This was another option item. To be honest, I have no idea how this is supposed to be used. I’ve swatched it on my hand and it smells good, but that’s as far as I’ve gotten.  If you know, comment below or on the Facebook page. According to the bottle, it helps skin retain moisture, improve the protective barrier of the skin, increase hydration, elasticity, and cools affected areas.  The tip is to use after a long day in the sun to soothe skin.  I guess my question is, do you use this all over or just in a small spot or what?  Maybe I just need to try it out.  I’ll keep you posted.

Total Value of Box: $281.50!!!!
This is a great value for only paying around $50 for the box! I’m excited to experiment with all the products and explore some new brands.  I would highly recommend giving FabFitFun a try.  If you’re interested, use this link to get $10 off your first box!  Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!  Oh, and don’t forget to share your FabFitFun treasures here and on the Facebook page!

That’s all for today.  See you guys in my next post, in which there’s a 99% chance of red, white, and blue!  Enjoy your weekend, lovelies!

A Surprising Purchase

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!
Ah, it’s good to be back!  Today, let’s talk surprises. One of my most surprising thrift store finds has been this white pair of jeans. I never would have purchased them had it not been for my Halloween costume last year (see it here). Turns out, that was a great choice as these jeans have really opened up my spring and summer wardrobe possibilities. Plus, they fit like heaven! For the restyle, I stuck pretty close to the inspiration photo. I love the blue with the pink accents and white jeans. It’s such a chic look and one that’ll be on repeat this summer!

Wacky Hack Wednesday

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!
Today, let’s get ready for summer!  Don’t pretend like we don’t all need a little sprucing up after a long winter. Between the cold wind chapping our skin to the fact that we’ve been covered up for the past several months, we could use a little TLC.  Don’t despair, though! I’ve tested three summer beauty hacks to get us looking our best for the fun season to come. Let’s get into it!
Listerine Foot Soak
Inspired by Heal Dove
I’ve been dying to try this hack for a while now. I don’t usually buy mouthwash, so that’s probably what’s been holding me back. While on a Target run the other day, I decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. Boy am I glad I did! This is amazing! Simply mix 1 part Listerine, 1 part vinegar, and 2 parts warm water.  After a 10 minute soak, any dead skin just comes right off. I’d suggest using a pumice stone or something like that to help remove the dead skin. It leaves your skin feeling soft and minty fresh!
DIY Self-Tanner
Need a quick tan but don’t have any self-tanner lying around? Try mixing cocoa powder and lotion. The recipe suggests using 2 Tbsp cocoa powder, but who measures stuff? Not this one, so I just dumped some cocoa powder into a jar with some lotion. I didn’t have high hopes for this hack. The only useful thing about this is that you smell like chocolate. That’s it. Otherwise, it goes on streaky, doesn’t look natural at all, and washes off with water. Those are not qualities I look for in a self-tanner.  Skip this hack at all costs and opt for the many commercially available self-tanners. My favorite is the Jergen’s Natural Glow (find it here).
DIY Exfoliatant
Inspired by Mother’s Niche
I’ve never been much for exfoliating my legs.  They say it helps the longevity of self-tanners, so I thought I’d give it a go. This hack calls for sugar and coconut oil. I didn’t have any coconut oil, so I just used regular cooking oil. I wasn’t sure about this hack either, but it made my skin feel silky smooth! My only concern is using anything oily like this in the shower. I love shaving my legs with baby oil. It’s the closest shave I’ve ever achieved. The problem is that the oil leaves a slippery film on the shower floor. That can be very dangerous. This hack does work, but use with caution!
What’s your favorite summer beauty hack?
That’s all for today. See you guys in my next post!
