Work Appropriate Halloween Outfits

Welcome back to Talk Fabulous, lovelies!

Halloween is such a fun holiday in my book. The decorations, the food, the CANDY, and the costumes. Not all costumes are work appropriate, though, and not all offices share our love of this festive holiday. If your office fits into this category, have no fear! We have some subtle, work appropriate Halloween outfits you can rock at the office this year!

First up is the most subtle look of the bunch. If you don’t want to appear too over-the-top, simply wear orange and black. You can be festive yet still look professional.

Add some Halloween earrings, if you’re feeling extra daring.

If you’re looking for a work appropriate costume, may I suggest the Audrey Hepburn? Throw on a black dress, layer on the pearls, and don’t forget the classic Audrey Hepburn hair. Easy, classy, and office approved.

Need more ideas. Here’s a few fun ones straight from Pinterest:

There you have it! Several easy and quick work appropriate Halloween outfit ideas you can use this week!

Snow Candles

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Today, let’s get crafty!  I found this winter craft idea on Pinterest and couldn’t wait to recreate it!  You’ll need a mason jar, window clings, Epsom salt, and a small candle.  Attach the window clings to the mason jar however you would like.  You could even start with some Christmas ones and change them to winter ones once Christmas was over.  The possibilities are endless!  Next, pour a thin layer of Epsom salt onto the bottom of the mason jar.  Then, add the candle to the center of the jar and pour more Epsom salt into the jar.  I filled it about a third full, but whatever suits your taste is fine.  Add some glitter for a fancier look.  Finally, light the candle and bask in the glory of a job well done!

Christmas Morning

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

PJs pajamas stylish comfy flannel Christmas
Christmas is only a week away!  Can you even believe it?  It’s crazy to think how quickly time has flown by!  With Christmas drawing closer, it got me thinking about the joy of Christmas morning.  What a beautiful morning!  Lounging around opening gifts or having a leisurely breakfast.  We don’t have any kiddos, so our Christmas morning is spent sipping coffee cuddling with the puppy.  Whatever you do on that special morning calls for a super cute pair of pajamas.  This never really crossed my mind until I saw the inspiration photo.  Everything else gets a spotlight on Christmas morning, our pajama outfits should too!  My go-to pajamas are these flannel PJs from Menards (yes, Menards.  Trust me they’re awesome!).  Find them here.  They are so soft, warm, and comfy, plus the patterns are so fun!  What PJs are you wearing Christmas morning?

Holiday Outfit Ideas

My Style Monday

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!
Comfy stylish chic holiday outfit ideas
Today, let’s talk holidays.  What should we wear?  My criteria are comfy, layers, and festive.  We’ll be eating a lot all day long.  I require leggings or a dress or something that isn’t tight around my waist.  That pecan pie’s gotta go somewhere, right?  Layers are critical when travelling to see family.  It may be freezing or it could be sweltering in their place.  Layers leave you looking cute and ready for any situation.  And, of course, we want to have some fun and be festive!  Once you pop on a cardigan sweater, the inspiration photo lends itself nicely to all three criteria.  If you’re not into the red and green, black and white would also look very chic.  For my restyle, I paired some maroon leggings with a white shirt and brown boots.  In one option, I added a greens scarf for a festive look.  In the other option, I added a brown cardigan and gold necklace.  Either would be a great holiday outfit idea, leaving you comfy and stylish all day long!

The Must-Have Christmas Craft

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

The holidays bring out all kinds of emotions.  Many a table are filled with tales of Christmases past.  It’s a wonderful time of year to remember those who are no longer with us.  That’s where today’s must-have Christmas craft comes in.  When I saw the inspiration photo on Pinterest, it instantly brought tears to my eyes, but it’s so beautiful.  I knew I had to recreate it for everyone on my list.  I love the look of the poem etched into the blocks.  This wasn’t exactly feasible to recreate.  Instead, here’s an easier route.  You’ll need clear frames (I got mine from the Dollar Tree), a dollhouse rocking chair, and a photo of the Christmas poem.  To make the Christmas poem photo, I wrote the poem on a photo editing app, added a background, and made the words fancy.  Then, I printed them out as pictures.  Simply add the poem photos to the picture frames and place the chair next to the frame.  That’s it!  I love how they turned out!

Crafting the Holidays: A Quick and Easy Homemade Gift Idea

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Today, let’s talk homemade gift ideas.  I love the thought of putting my creative juices to work this time of year with a good ‘ole homemade gift.  Problem is, sometimes (okay maybe most of the time) I way underestimate the amount of time it takes to actually make the said gift.  This gets me into trouble and I end up rushing out to buy something Christmas Eve.  No more, my friends, no more.  I took to Pinterest in search of a cute and easy homemade gift.  Specifically, I was looking for something to make my co-workers.  Since they are all women, this made the search easier.  When I came across the inspiration photo, I knew it was the one!  It looked easy, cute, and even functional!  Score!

You’ll need some clear frames (I used 5×7 ones from the dollar store), sticky notes in assorted colors and sizes (again, I got mine from the dollar store), ribbon (you guessed it, from the dollar store), and scrapbook paper.  First, cut the scrapbook paper to fit your frames and place the paper inside the frame.  Next, secure ribbon to the top of the frame using some tape.  I simply wrapped the ribbon around the frame, but you could tie a bow or do something fancy here if you so desired.  To give it a little something extra, I added their initial to the ribbon.  Finally, attach the sticky note pads using glue dots.  I tried tape, but that didn’t work at all.  Glue here would be the best choice.  That’s it!  Now you have a cute and functional homemade holiday gift!

REPOST: 10 Tips for a Successful Black Friday Shopping Experience

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

For those of you in the U.S. Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you are having a fabulous day eating delicious food with friends and family.  What a great holiday!  Also on tap, this weekend is the biggest shopping day of the year…Black Friday.  This is almost a holiday in itself for my family. After our bellies are full of turkey and pie, we await the joyous sound of “The paper’s here!”  Our faces light up with delight.  We ready our notepads and pens and get ready to make our lists and check them twice. We proceed to happily spend hours scouring the dozens and dozens of ads for great deals laughing and joking as we go.  Once our lists are made, we get down to business making a plan for the next morning.  This is the not so fun part.  That’s where these tips come in handy…

This post is based on an article by The Krazy Coupon Lady called 34 Brilliant Black Friday Hacks for 2016.  While there is a lot of great and super useful information in this article, 34 tips are more than I can handle.  Let’s break it down into 10 tips for a successful Black  Friday shopping experience!
Recipe Style:
34 Brilliant Black Friday Tips for 2016 by the Krazy Coupon Lady

My Style:

  1. Scout your go-to stores the day before Thanksgiving.  Most of the displays should be set up by this time.  For people who travel for the holiday, this may be difficult, but it can help save time at the wee hours of the morning for sure!
  2. Make your final list by store and order the items by importance.  In my family, we have several drafts of the same list before we get to our final.   It’s a process.
  3. Remember to not only stock up for Christmas but birthdays, weddings, baby showers, etc. as well!
  4. Look for door-buster guarantees.  This is mostly a Wal-Mart thing, and Wal-Mart is not my favorite place to go on Black Friday.  Actually, I avoid it at all costs.  However, if they have a TV I want for cheap, their door-buster guarantee is a life-saver.  All you do is go in during the advertised time-frame, buy a voucher for the item you want, and pick it up before Christmas.  That I can handle!
  5. Avoid wearing red, especially if you’re going to Target.  Do wear bright colors or an easily recognized shirt so your group can find you easily in the crowd.
  6. Leave the kiddos and hubbys at home.  Unless your hubby is my brother in which case he may come along.  My brother is a great shopper!
  7. Shop with a group, but not a large group.  Two to four people is a good number.
  8. Ditch the shopping carts and use reusable bags instead.  This of course only works if you’re purchasing smaller items. If you must get a cart, have 1 cart and 1 driver for your group.  The other people are runners and bring items back to the cart.  This avoids having to drive the cart through the crowded aisles, which will only slow down your progress.
  9. Shop online.  My mom and I discovered the joy of this last year when a winter storm decided to plague our town on Black Friday morning.  You can expect everything, except door-busters, to be available online.  If you hate crowds and getting up before dawn, this is the option for you!
  10. Use gift cards for purchases.  As The Krazy Coupon Lady mentions you can go to Raise.com and buy discounted gift cards.  This can save you more money on top of the awesome Black Friday deals you’re already getting!
  11. BONUS tip!  JCPenney and Menards are my favorite stores for Black Friday (and all year round actually).  You are guaranteed to find great deals for everyone on your list at both of these stores.  Every year, these are the 2 places we go for sure.
Hope these shopping tips help you have a fabulous Black Friday trip!  Leave me a comment down below and let me know how your shopping experience turned out!

Quick and Easy Thanksgiving Centerpiece

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

We’re finally back to crafting on Wednesdays!  As promised, we have a lot of great holiday craft projects lined up for you and today is no exception!  Need a quick Thanksgiving centerpiece to wow your guests?  Look no further, we’ve got you covered!
For this project, you’ll need a plastic pot, black paint, ribbon, fall decor (leaves, acorns, small pumpkins, gourds, things of this nature), and a hot glue gun.  First, paint the pot black.  Mine took 2 coats to cover completely.  Once the paint has dried, turn the pot upside down and tie a ribbon around the base of the pot.  Secure the ribbon with hot glue.  Now the fun part.  Decorate!  Using the fall decor and the hot glue, arrange the leaves, acorns, gourds, and whatever else you picked up to your liking at the base of the upside down pot.  Let dry and you’re done!  Wasn’t that easy?!?!
