Fabulous Finds Friday
Today, let’s talk easy. I need some easy in my life, I mean, don’t we all? Recently, there’s been a change in my household. Instead of the hubby getting home early to let the puppy out, now that has become my job. Goodbye after work runs to the grocery store, Target, Goodwill, Dollar Tree, etc. It was fun while it lasted, my friends! Okay, maybe I’m being a bit dramatic there, but you get the picture. You might be asking, “um, MissyAnn, why can’t you just go let the puppy out and then go to the store?” This is a good point, however, I live about 20 minutes away from any store. Once I’m home, I’m in for the night. I don’t feel like driving upwards of 45 minutes to an hour round trip to go to the store. The whole night would be shot and that’s no good. Enter online shopping. Now, I’m a pro at shopping for clothes and stuff on Amazon online. What about toiletries and groceries, though? That’s something I had never tried before. Let’s do an experiment, shall we?
seems nice, right? Using the Target app, I searched for the products I needed and added them to my cart. This included some makeup, drain cleaner, hair products, contact solution, soap, things of this nature. After waiting a few days to ensure I didn’t run into anything else I needed, I made the order late on a Sunday night. Side note, if you don’t have a Target Red Card, get one now! You get free shipping and 5% off everything. Awesome! Also, one of the great things about the Target app is they will find deals for you based on what’s in your cart. Do you have some jeans that are 20% with a code? No worries, the app will remind you to enter the code before you checkout. That’s so sweet! Okay, back to the order. So, I ordered late Sunday night and chose regular shipping. Much to my surprise, I received the bulk of the items on Tuesday!!! I did have a couple items come Wednesday and Thursday, but still, that’s fast! #impressed Buying toiletries at Target gets a big A+ from this one!
Since I had such good luck at Target, I thought I’d try online grocery shopping. First, I hit up Wal-Mart. They have that pick-up service at most every store now. That seemed like a good option. What are the two things that are must-haves when buying groceries? In my book, it’s milk and bread. Using the Wal-Mart app, I searched for milk. That’s when it happened. Disappointment reared its ugly head. You cannot get milk in the pick-up option. You can only buy it in store. No thank you!
program called Aisles Online, which is much like the pick-up service at Wal-Mart. If you don’t have a HyVee in your area, I’m guessing most major grocery stores would offer similar programs. You order online, choose your pick-up time, and then someone will bring them out to your car. Nice! A bit nervously, I again searched for milk. Success! You can order milk from HyVee! I proceeded to add other items to my cart. I did see the minimum order for free pick-up is $50, but, let’s face it, that’s not difficult. I got to 50 bucks without even trying. After I found everything I wanted, I placed the order and picked it up on the way home the next day. They bring your groceries out to you in big totes that are lined with Styrofoam. I ordered some ice cream, ya know, to test out if the products would stay cold, not because ice cream sounded yummy. The ice cream held up just fine and was delicious! Overall, it was awesome!
If you’re like me and don’t have time to go shopping after work, or if you have kiddos and they tend to add too much stuff to your cart, or if you’re older and can’t get around the big stores easily, or if you just hate grocery shopping, this is for you! I’d highly recommend giving this a try! Let me know how it goes for you!
Have you ever tried online grocery shopping?
