Let’s Get Crafty
Ah, fall! Who doesn’t love fall? With all the apple cider, hayrack rides, pumpkin patches, football, and whatever else you can dream up, it’s difficult to remember baseball is still in full swing. Yes, baseball is still a thing this time of year, especially if your team is one of the lucky ones to make it to postseason play. We’re a house divided, one of us going for the Cardinals and one for the Royals. Sadly, neither of our teams are still in, but that won’t keep us from crafting up something special to commemorate this special time of year in baseball. Let’s slide into it!
The idea came from a Halloween post on Pinterest. The inspiration photo shows three skulls with a candle on top. That’s a cool idea, but I’m not much for skulls. I wandered around the dollar store looking for something else I could use when I came across of pack of three plastic baseballs. Score! I added them to my basket and excitedly went home to get crafting! For this project you’ll need, three plastic baseballs, two jar lids, a small candle, spray paint, craft paint, glitter and hot glue. First, I spray painted my jar lids gold, any color would work, though. Next, I took the craft paint and painted the baseballs red for the Cardinals. It took a couple coats to get the coverage I wanted. Next time I might try spray painting them instead as that might be easier. If you try that, let me know how it works. Next, I covered my candle in glue and rolled it in the glitter. That’s messy but oh so fun! I let everything dry overnight. Finally, I assembled everything with hot glue. I started by attaching one of the baseballs to a lid as a base. Then, I attached the candle to the other lid. Next, I glued the candle and lid to the top of a baseball. Lastly, I glued the bottom piece to the bottom of the last baseball and the top piece to the top of the last baseball. To be honest, I thought it would break as it’s pretty top heavy. However, I’m happy to report that it’s still going strong and in one piece! Yay! How about that for a fun, fall baseball craft project!
