Carry On Challenge: Part II

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Today, we’re talking all about traveling!  The hubby and I will soon be jet setting across the U.S. and I thought it would be a great time to challenge myself to pack lighter and carry on.  The first installment of the Carry On Challenge (find it here) was all about the clothes and shoes to pack.  This time, we’ll be tackling toiletries and the dreaded liquids bag.  Let’s get into it!

The most difficult part of this challenge is perhaps the liquids bag.  Known as the 3-1-1 rule, you can only carry on a 1-quart sized bag of liquids, gels, aerosols, creams, and pastes that are 3.4 oz (100mL) or less per person. The per person thing here is key. Luckily, I can use my hubby’s bag as long as I can fit all his stuff in first. Basically, I’m up to a 1.5-quart bag now. 😉 To determine what to bring along, I set out everything I wanted to pack. Next, I started weeding out the items that weren’t critical. After the first weed-out session, I attempted to fit everything into the bag. Lo and behold! It fit!

The rest of the toiletries were easy after that!  A few notes…because of the liquids rule, I opted for powder makeup instead of my usual liquids. This really saved on space in the liquids bag without sacrificing any style. L’Oreal has a really nice powder foundation in their True Match line if you are looking for something to try. There are also a few items, like sunscreen, that we’ll need to purchase when we get there. Mostly, I’m just super impressed everything fit in the first try!  See, we really can do this!

What are your toiletry packing tips for carrying on?

That’s all for today. See you guys Wednesday for another quick and easy fall craft project!
