Hey, guys! Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!
Today, we continue our spring cleaning theme with an easy way to freshen your bathroom. This DIY will leave your bathroom smelling squeaky clean in just minutes. You’ll love it, I promise!
My recipe was adapted from the article Toilet Freshener Tabs on Bitz & Giggles. The first time I made these I attempted to make the tabs as described in the article. It didn’t go terribly, but there were a few downfalls to the tabs. For one thing, they didn’t stick together well and didn’t stay together once I placed them in a jar in the bathroom. They also hardened over time and I was left with a glob of hardened toilet fizzies that I couldn’t remove. I actually had to run the jar under water to clean it all out. It was kind of a mess. That very well could’ve been user error so you may have better luck than I did. However, I knew there had to be an easier way. The next time, I simply made the powder without making it into tabs. That worked much better. Here’s the rundown:
1 ⅓ cup Baking Soda
1 bottle Citric Acid (you can find this by canning supplies)
10-20 drops Essential Oil (I use lavender)
Fill an empty parmesan cheese container with baking soda.
Add citric acid and shake to mix.
Add oil and shake to mix.
Sprinkle into toilet and smell the clean!
Note: Be sure to let fully dissolve before flushing so not to damage the pipes.
Easy right? I spray painted the top of the parmesan cheese container to add a little something extra, but that’s completely optional. I’m loving the way it looks and, even better, I love how fresh the bathroom smells. Now, that’s something everyone can appreciate!
How do you freshen your bathroom?
That’s all for today. See you guys in my next post!
