Lazy Girl Hacks: How to Get Ready Quick

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Today, let’s talk get ready hacks.  We all can feel a little rushed in the mornings.  There’s so much to do in so little time.  No worries, though, I’ve got some hacks that will make getting ready a little less stressful.  The idea for this post came from the article Lazy Girl Fashion Hacks from Looking Fly on a Dime (she has all sorts of awesome articles, check out her blog here).  I’ll break her article down for you and add a few tips of my own to help make your mornings easier.  Let’s get into it!

#1: Check the weather forecast
The weather has been crazy lately!  One day it’s 20 below the next day it’s 75 and sunny.  Okay, maybe not quite that extreme, but you get the picture.  It’s disheartening to put on your favorite cold weather sweater when it’s going to be 60 degrees.  I’ve done this more times than I care to admit.  A simple check of the weather will help you dress appropriately the first time.

#2: Have a go-to look
In her article, Looking Fly on a Dime describes this as your fashion uniform.  A fashion uniform is an outfit formula that you know will look great.  For instance, my winter uniform is a cardigan and tee paired with a scarf, skinny jeans and knee-high boots.  Having this go-to look will make getting ready less stressful, especially when you’re at a loss for something to wear.

#3: Have one (or two) weekday purses

Switching out purses can eat up precious time in the morning.  Having just one, or maybe two, purses for weekday use will be a real time saver.  I happen to have two purses I carry on a regular basis, one is brown, the other is black. They pretty much go with everything.  Another great tip from the article is having in a pouch for easy transfer.  I have a pouch for my makeup, one for first aid supplies, one for my wallet contents, etc.  I’ve been doing this for awhile and it works great!

#4: Choose one statement piece
As the article points out, layering necklaces is trendy but can be very time-consuming.  Opt for one statement piece and be out the door quickly.

#5: Have a 5-minute beauty routine

There are countless tutorials on the internet about 5-minute makeup routines.  Find one that works for you or develop your own. I enjoy doing my makeup in the morning, but sometimes I just don’t have time for a full-blown look.  Those are the mornings I reach for my BB cream, a little blush, cream eye shadow, mascara, and I’m out the door.  In conjunction with this, also have a go-to hairstyle. Something quick, but put-together.  I’ll either pin my hair back or put it up in a half ponytail.  Both of these looks take less than a minute.

What are your tips to get ready quickly?
That’s all for today.  See you guys in my next post!
