New Year’s Resolutions and Leggings Week

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Happy 2017, lovelies!  I hope you all had a fabulous time ringing in the new year!  So, who made a New Year’s resolution?  Who’s still sticking to their resolution?  Most of you?  Good.  I’ll check back in a few weeks.  😉
In the spirit of resolutions, I thought this might be the perfect week to tackle a subject many of you have asked me about…leggings.  Leggings can be tricky, but they are oh so comfy and stylish when you know how to wear them appropriately.  This week we’ll drive into the types of leggings, how to style them, what shoes to wear, and finally a review of some of my favorite brands and some to avoid.  The idea for this series came from the article What to Wear With Leggings + 7 Style Tips from the Brighton the Day blog.  Also, a shout out to my friend and fellow blogger, Sue (check out her blog here), for sending me said article.  Without further ado, let’s get into it!
First and foremost it is important to remember this rule.  If you take nothing else from this post, please, please remember this:

True story.  So, no matter how thick your leggings are remember to wear a shirt that is long enough to cover your bum.
There are a variety of legging lengths.  Most commonly they can be found in ankle, Capri, and mid-calf.  My preference is ankle as these tend to be the most versatile seeing as you can dress them up or down depending on the occasion.  To me, Capri and mid-calf lengths seem more casual and sporty. Plus, not everyone is going to look good in those lengths.  So, for our purposes, we’ll stick to ankle length leggings.
Leggings also come in many fabrics such as knits, leather, denim (often called jeggings), sequins, etc. Make sure to choose ones that are made of good quality material.  Cheaper leggings tend to be thin and may not wear as well as those that are higher quality.
There are basically two types of leggings, pull on and non pull on.  When I think leggings, I think the classic type or pull on leggings.  You guessed it, these pull on and often do not have pockets. However, some leggings have the look and feel of pants or jeans with the stretch of leggings.  These often have zippers and real pockets, etc. Many jeggings are this style.  Be aware of this when choosing your leggings.  I would recommend trying on some of each type to get a feel for what you prefer.
That’s all for today.  Tune into tomorrow for some suggestions on how to style leggings!  See you guys in my next post!
