Today, as part of our series on How to Shop Your Closet (based on the article here), let’s talk about The Rule of Three. We have discussed this notion earlier in this post. It’s an easy way to multiply your outfits, so it’s worth a mention again. The Rule of Three is as follows:
1 Top + 1 Bottom + 1 Completer Piece
The completer piece can be anything from a jacket to a sweater to a necklace to a scarf. It’s basically an item that will tie the whole outfit together and give it a polished look. Take the example below. Simply by adding the sweater and necklace, the outfit instantly has more interest. Just as easily, perhaps we only wanted to add the sweater? The outfit would still look great. Conversely, maybe we just want to add the necklace. Again, the outfit is still as stunning. And with no effort at all, we’ve just created 3 outfits. Imagine the possibilities waiting in your closet!
