How to Shop Your Closet: Part II

Hey, guys!  Welcome back to Talk Fabulous!

Today, as part of our series on How to Shop Your Closet (based on the article here), let’s talk about Capsule wardrobes. According to Wikipedia a Capsule Wardrobe is defined as “a collection of clothing that is composed of interchangeable items only, to maximize the number of outfits that can be created”. I’ve always been intrigued by capsule wardrobes, but I’m skeptical of their practicality. In an effort to test if capsule wardrobes really could work, I decided to begin by mixing and matching a few items to create new outfits. I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Using only the clothes I had in my closet, I built my capsule based on the list provide in the article:

1. A tank
2. A short sleeve shirt
3. A long sleeve shirt
4. A completer piece (cardigan, jacket, etc.)
5. A pair of shorts
6. A skirt
7. A pair of pants
8. A dress

Using those 8 pieces, I created 28 new outfits. Granted, not all of these outfit combinations will work, however it did provide some ideas I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise.  This is definitely something I would repeat again!

4.  Tank + Completer Piece + Shorts 5.  Tank + Completer Piece + Skirt    6.  Tank + Completer Piece + Pants

7.  Short Sleeve Shirt + Shorts 8.  Short Sleeve Shirt + Skirt 9.  Short Sleeve Shirt + Pants

10.  Short Sleeve Shirt + Completer Piece + Shorts 11.  Short Sleeve Shirt + Completer Piece + Skirt 12.  Short Sleeve Shirt + Completer Piece + Pants

13.  Long Sleeve Shirt + Shorts 14.  Long Sleeve Shirt + Skirt 15.  Long Sleeve Shirt + Pants

16.  Long Sleeve Shirt + Completer Piece + Shorts 17.  Long Sleeve Shirt + Completer Piece + Skirt 18.  Long Sleeve Shirt + Completer Piece + Pants

19.  Tank + Dress (worn as skirt) 20.  Short Sleeve Shirt + Dress (worn as skirt) 21.  Long Sleeve Shirt + Dress (worn as skirt)

22.  Tank + Completer Piece + Dress (worn as skirt) 23.  Short Sleeve Shirt + Completer Piece + Dress (worn as skirt) 24.  Long Sleeve Shirt + Completer Piece + Dress (worn as skirt)
